Jennifer Lopez Was 'Heartbroken' by Putting Her Wedding to Alex Rodriguez on Pause

May 26, 2020

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were slated to have one of the biggest weddings of 2020. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, their dream wedding has been put on hold indefinitely, something that the pop star says has left her “heartbroken.”

In an interview with Today, Lopez said that the decision to postpone their late summer ceremony in Italy was an emotional one, and one that she shares with other 2020 brides. “Nobody knows” what to do about their wedding planning, she said on Tuesday.

Fresh off of her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, Lopez was set to take a break and then go into bride mode.

“After the Super Bowl and after ‘World of Dance,’ after we finished filming it, I planned to take time off," Lopez said. "Which is what we're doing kind of right now, but at the same time, you know, we had a lot of plans for this summer and this year. But everything's kind of on hold right now."

For now, there is no plan in place for a post-pandemic celebration of their union. "There's no planning right now. You just have to kind of wait and see how this all plays out, and it's disappointing on one level,” shared Lopez.

However, Lopez chooses to have faith that everything will work out. "I'm a little heartbroken because we did have some great plans. But I'm also like, ‘You know what? God has a bigger plan.’ And so we just have to wait and see. Maybe it's going to be better. I have to believe that it will be,” she said.

In the meantime, Lopez said she's grateful that the family is spending a lot of quality time together. “We get to have dinner together every night and, I got to tell you, I love that,” she shared.

The family has also been keeping busy by working out together in their backyard and learning how to play baseball courtesy of Rodriguez.
