It's offially back to school season which should be fall, but it's 100+ degrees so it's not festival season yet! Need ideas for what to do? I've got ya covered!
 

CLEAR THE SHELTERS DAY! Saturday only. My favorite event this weekend! Tons of pet shelters across the country are taking part in the one-day event to get the most pets adopted. Fees are totally waived!!! Check out cleartheshelters.com and fine the one nearest you if you're considering adopting a new pet.

Magic 101.9 Pop-Up Broadcast in Mid-City - Saturday 10am-12pm at the Docks at American Can Building. There's a new Keesler Federal Credit Union opening up and they're giving stuff away and hosting a big party. Join me!

Back to High School Throwback with Bucktown All-Stars - Friday, 9:30pm at Rock n Bowl.  Your old school colors are encouraged attire for a fun night of throwback songs.

National Rum Day - Saturday. I think I might just *have* to celebrate this one even if it's just a drink or two at home. ;)

Hot Chicken Pop-Up - Saturday and Sunday at Port Orleans Brewing Company. I just heard of hot chicken which is apparently huge in Nashville. Want to try it out here? Well here's your chance.

Nola Motor Fest - Saturday 9am-11pm, Nola Motorsports Park. Car show, go karting, motorcycle and car track times. Basically if it burns fuel, it's happening here & you can take part.

STEM Fest in St John - Saturday 9am-12pm at St John The Baptist Community Center in Laplace. 40 hands-on activities for the kids. Free and open to all.

Art of the City Family Day - Saturday 10am-12pm at Historic New Orleans Collection. Perfect for a kid into art! Interactive exhibits, hands-on drawing and sculptures and youth-focused tours.

Food Truck Interational Foodie Fest - Saturday, 12-9pm at Deja Vieux Food Park. My kids have been into watching old episodes of the food truck show on Food Network so here's a good excuse to check out some food trucks. Entertainment is part of the $5 ticket.

Steam Train Day - Saturday 2-4pm at the Steam Train Association. Ride in an open air car pulled by a vintage diesel engine. Food and drinks and donations help rebuild railroad history. Great if you've got a big train fan in the family.

Covington White Linen Night - Saturday, 6-9pm in downtown Covington. Shop, stroll, eat and imbibe while enjoying a variety of local vendors, live music, art demonstrations and more.

Fortnite Tournament - Saturday 5:30pm at The Flagstick at Clearview Mall. Nobody tell my son. :) But in case your kid would also flip out over this...here ya go!

Bunco with the Krewe of Centurions - Saturday at 6:30pm at Metairie Lion's Club. Play Bunco and have fun and help support a school float for next Mardi Gras. $25 tickets include food, soda and beer. Ages 13+

Celebrate Elvis - Saturday, 7-11pm at Andrea's Capri Blu Bar. Music, costume contests, singing contest and more fun in a celebration of Elvis.

Dead End Blues Band at Knuckleheads - Saturday 8-11pm at Severn and W. Esplanade in Metairie. My friend is part owner in this bar so I thought I'd list it. :)

Molly Ringwalds - Saturday, 8pm at Southport Hall. One of our favorite throwback cover bands performs. Tickets are $10 for general admission.

Eagles Tribute Band - Saturday at Gretna Cultural Center. The tribute band New Kid in Town.

Cocktails for a Cause - Sunday, 12-3pm at Pearl Wine Co. It's a scholarship fundraiser for PFLAG with drinks and raffles.

Queen Themed Drag Brunch - Sunday, 10:30am at The Fillmore. It's hard to find a brunch without drag queens anymore. Here's a fun one in honor of the band Queen who will actually be in town on Tuesday 8/20.

Deutsches Haus Get Lei'd Blood Drive - Sunday 10am-5pm. Dancing krewes, DJs, snacks and fun as they try to restock The Blood Center.

Sunday Swing - Sunday, 1:30-4:30pm at Stage Door Canteen at WWII Museum. Learn to swing dance with local bands and instructors. $10 admission or free for museum members.

Anti-Goodell Bowl - Sunday 2-8pm at Rock n Bowl. You can watch the game, enjoy live music, Saints superfans and talk trash about Goodell.

Dog Basic Manners Training - Saturday at 9am at Jefferson Feed on Carrollton.

New Orleans Bulldog Rescue Pet Party - Adoption event at Pearl Wine Co, Sat 2-3pm. (Right next to the Keesler Federal Credit Union pop-up broadcast above!)

Bluetails Pet Rescue - Celebrating the Clear the Shelters day with an adoption event at Petsmart on Manhattan in Harvey, Sat 11am-3pm.

Jefferson SPCA Adoption Day - Saturday 11am-3pm at Jefferson Feed on Jefferson Hwy

Remember: lots of shelters are taking part in Clear the Shelters Day.
