Running the Bulls and a dead-heat-of-the-summer Mardi Gras parade take center stage as a couple of "only in New Orleans" events this weekend. Have a great one!
 

Carden Circus - Friday-Sunday at Lakefront Arena. The circus is in town all 3 days. Tickets range from $14-$24.

NORD Teen Back to School Night - Friday 7-10pm, 5420 Franklin Ave. Lots of activities for kids ages 13-17. Free.

Free Friday Concert with Big Sam's Funky Nation - Friday, 10pm at Tipitina's. No cover charge, free concert.

Running of the Bulls - Saturday at 6:30am through the Warehouse District. There are events throughout the weekend, but the biggest is San Fermin in Nueva Orleans with the Big Easy Rollergirls acting as the bulls. Pre (and post) party at 6:30am in the Sugar Mill is ticketed. The bulls are released at 8am. It's free to get hit by them in the streets.

NOMA Family Fest Day - Saturday, 10am-3pm, New Orleans Museum of Art. Free admission and lots of indoor activities for the kids and family.

NyxGiving - Saturday, 9am-9pm, Nyx headquarters at 2727 Lafitte Street. The Mystic Krewe of Nyx is raising money for their community playground projects and the public is invited all day for fun and ways to help.

Drag Queen Story Hour - Saturday, 1pm at Alvar Library, 913 Alvar St. Drag Queen Vanessa reads stories to kids. Open to all families and children of all ages.

MidSummer Mardi Gras - Saturday, 7pm starting at the Maple Leaf Bar on Oak St. Several marching krewes will celebrate Mardi Gras (only sweatier) with a walking route from Oak St to Palmer Park on Carrollton.

FREE National Park Day - Sunday all day at any National Park. In honor of Founder's Day, all admission to any National Park in the country is free! The Louisiana list can be found here.

The B-52s, OMD and Berlin - Sunday, 7pm at the Saenger Theater. Fun throwback concert!

American Idol Auditions - Sunday, 9am in Baton Rouge. Great singer? Here's your chance.

Fat Boy's Pizza Eating Championship - Sunday, 11am-4pm at Fat Boy's Pizza on Metairie Rd. Professional eater Joey Chestnut will be attempting to set a world record eating giant pizza slices in 10minutes. Lots of family-friendly activities as well.

70's A Star is Born - Sunday, 10am at the Prytania Theater. See the 1976 version of "A Star is Born" starring Barbara Streisand and Chris Christopherson.
