Annette's Picks: Weekend Guide for Dec 7-9

December 6, 2018

This seems to be the busiest weekend yet with holiday events - so to make sure you see all the fun stuff, don't forget our Holiday Events Guide here!  These are just a few of my personal picks. So fingers crossed Saturday isn't as rainy as they say it is going to be!!!

LUNA FETE - Tursday - Sunday. Not exactly a Christmas event, but it happens in December and lights seem like the holidays to me. It's got tons of cool artistic light displays from Gallier Hall/Lafayette Park over the Fulton Street. There's no admission, just walk around and enjoy. My kids love this assuming the weather is good.

SNOW DAY AT LAFRENIERE PARK - They shave ice so it's "real" snow! Hoping this doesn't cancel because of the rain, but if it happens, get there early or plan to walk a bit since it's been pretty popular everytime I've been there. Free, Saturday morning at 9am.

MOVIES ON THE MISSISSIPPI - Friday evening at Spanish Plaza, they'll be showing The Santa Claus outside with the River as the backdrop. It's free so grab blankets and chairs. I'm just wondering how my kids will feel about the part in the movie where Santa dies???

TEDDY BEAR TEA - We're doing my kids first Teddy Bear Tea this weekend. But we're doing a very low-key version in the gym of their old preschool. We'll start there before we try The Roosevelt or another fancy one. But click the link to see some of the more proper versions. With the rain coming, it might be a great weekend to book one.

MOVIES - The (new) Grinch or Ralph Breaks the Internet - Rain has changed some of our original plans (and dad gets one more day to *not* put up Christmas lights {sigh}) so we may head to the movies and see the new version of The Grinch. Just reminding you these are out there if you haven't been yet.
