Annette's Picks: Weekend Guide for Jul 19-21

July 18, 2019

I find myself with no real weekend plans ahead of me. Usually my 2 kids keep our schedule packed, but they don't have any birthday parties or special events so it's wide open! Here are some options for all of us as we head into another steamy hot weekend.

The Lion King: One of the most talked about movies of the year opens on Friday. Nobody tell me what happens. :)  Also...air conditioning.

Jurrasic Quest: Friday - Sunday at the Convention Center. Dino themed activities that kids who love dinosaurs will love. Ticketed entrance and for certain rides and activities.

Louisiana Sportsman Show: Friday - Sunday in the Dome. Hunters and fishers won't want to miss this one.

Baby Cakes games: Friday night is a "Stranger Things" theme including hat giveaways & post-game fireworks, Saturday is Fairytale night and Sunday afternoon is family day.

History on the Lake: Sat 9a-3p. The WWII Museum's restored torpedo boat will be on the lakefront at The Blue Crab restaurant and you can tour if for $15.

10th Annual Pig & Punch: Sun 12-5pm at Crescent Park. Several Hogs for the Cause teams cook, lots of cocktails served, live music and all the raise money for many charities.

90's Drag Brunch: Sun at 10:30am at The Fillmore. Tickets are $45 for the buffet and show.

Baby Bull Bash: Sun at 10am at Confetti Park in Algeirs Point. It's the toddler-friendly version of New Orleans' Running of the Bulls.

It's a Wonderful Life movie: Sun at 10am at Prytania Theater. It's Christmas in July with this classic movie.

Garage Sale and Petapalooza: Sunday 1-4pm at Nola Brewing. Pet adoptions and shopping for hidden treasures... while drinking beer.
