Annette's Picks: Weekend Guide for Jul 26-28

July 24, 2019

How can the summer be almost over? Back to school is around the corner so let's get all the fun out of this weekend we can!

Family Block Part at the WWII Museum - Friday 5:30pm-9pm. Special activities geared to kids of all ages, after-hours museum access and free entry for all under 18 while adults only play $10.

Metry Market at the Park - Friday 2-7pm at Lafreniere Park. A farmer's market pop-up near the concert meadow.

Solange Knowles Film Screening - Friday 6:30pm at NOMA. A free screening of Solange's interdisciplinary performance art film “When I Get Home.” It's a longshot...but what if Beyonce is there? :)

Baby Cakes games - Friday at 7pm they'll take on Nashville and be giving away little Steamboat Natchez figurines plus fireworks after the game. Sunday at 1pm they'll play Nashville again and the kids can run the bases following the game.

Dinner and a Zoovie - Friday, 6pm at the Audubon Zoo. "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" will be shown on the lawn at the zoo.

"The Goonies" Kids Summer Movie - Saturday 10am at Prytania Theater. Each weekend another fun kids' movie and this weekend it's a classic from our childhood.

Mosquito Fest - Saturday 10:30am-4:30pm at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center. I feel like this happens in my backyard every night...but this more festive version includes fun activities, info and demonstrations, a food truck and more.

Northshore Family Fun Day - Saturday 10am-2pm at the Harbor Center in Slidell. Free event with bounce house, rock painting, video games and more.

Mermaids & Pirates at the Library - Saturday 2:30-4pm at Westbank Library on Manhattan. Crafts, games, and fun galore all for free. All are welcome to show off your best mermaid or pirate outfit.

Sip + Dip at the Zoo - Saturday 7-10pm at the Audubon Zoo. Adult night at the Cool Zoo and Gator Run?! I'm sad to say this event is SOLD OUT, but posting it here anyway so you can keep an eye out for the next one.

Chelsea Handler - Saturday at 7pm at The Fillmore. The comedian, writer and talk-show host performs stand-up live.

Kyper - Saturday, 8pm at Southport Hall. Don't even pretend you don't know that song "Tic Tac Toe" from the early 90's. :)

National Parents Day - Sunday all day. See if your kids care. Spoiler: they don't.
