The first of the Independance Day events start this weekend with 2 big ones on the Northshore. So get plenty of wear out of those red, white and blue outfits and get started with all the fun!

Zoomobile at Westbank Library - Friday 11am-12pm at Westbank Regional on Manhattan. Hands-on fun for the kids at the library

80's Wine Tasting - Friday 6:30-8pm at Martin Wine Cellar Uptown. Wear 80's clothes for a little extra fun at this wine tasting. 

Steel Panther concert - Friday 9pm at The Fillmore. 80's themed band playing live complete with an on-stage costume contest.

Baby & Child Expo - Saturday 10am-2pm at Lakeside Mall. Free activities for the kids plus lots of free swag for parents.

Pride Storytime - Saturday 11am at Barnes & Noble in Metairie. Reading of children's books that celebrate diversity.

Slidell Heritage Fest - Saturday 4-11pm at Heritage Park. Early 4th of July fun with fireworks and lots of activities and live music from Bag of Donuts and Amanda Shaw. Tickets $10 or $5 for kids.

Light up the Lake - Saturday 6-9pm at Mandeville Lakefront. Picnic throughout the day and entertainment begins at 6pm including the band Four Unplugged. Fireworks over the lake for early 4th of July fun.

Rob Thomas live - Saturday, 7:30pm at The Saenger. Magic 101.9 artist, and the voice we first loved from Matchbox Twenty, comes to town to perform live.

Patriotic Music Festival - Sunday 3-6pm at Trinity Episcopal Church. Music by the US Marine Corps Band, Ellis Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis' Uptown Jazz Orchestra, The New Orleans Trombone Choir and more. Free.



Pet ID Tags - Saturday 10am-4pm at LA-SPCA. Free pet ID tags and $15 microchips

Take Paws Adoption - Saturday 12-4pm at Jefferson Feed Metairie by Trader Joe's

Meowmasté: Yoga with Kittens - Saturday 10am at LA-SPCA. Yes, yoga with kittens. :)

Rock Ride & Rescue - Sunday 6-9pm at Rock N Bowl. Funraiser party for the New Orleans Theraputic Riding Center and more pet non-profits. Music, silent auction, raffle, bake sale. Tickets $15 at the door.
