Annette's Picks: Weekend Guide for Nov 16-18

This weekend, the kids have a couple of birthday parties to hit - their social calendar is always way busier than mine - and we're doing an early family Thanksgiving. But there's lots of other fun stuff we'll try to squeeze in as well since the weather will be warming up again! Here are my fav picks for weekend fun...

Pelicans Games - The Pels have been doing great again this season so I'm excited to catch a game! And the kids made me buy them each a Pelicans branded basketball for $25 (each!) recently so they seem to be into it also. Pelicans will take on the Knicks on Friday and Denver on Saturday here at the Smoothie King Center.

Jewerly Show - This one my kids won't be coming to, but I'm excited to knock out some shopping...and maybe even buy some stuff that *isn't* for me. :) The Jewelry Show is back at the Convention Center this weekend and non-business owners can shop on Sat and Sun with $15 admission or less with this $5 coupon. I'll be doing an appearance there on Sat morning!

Wing Wars - Central City BBQ is hosting the event where 17 restaurants are competing for your favorite wing. Wings will be $1 each and proceeds go to charity (free admission). It's Saturday only and is also a tailgate for Sunday's Saints game since we're taking on the Eagles. Big Sam's Funky Nation and other great bands.

Santa's Arrival at Lakeside - It's not the only Santa sighting you'll have in the next few weeks, but it's the biggest entrance. If you like getting up early with the kids and hitting the mall when it's the most crowded it can be...this is for you. It's actually a lot of fun, but not for kids with sensory issues.

Gumbo Festival - It's been gumbo weather this week, that's for sure! The Jazz Fest people are the organizers behind this weekend's Treme Gumbo Fest at Armstrong Park. Both Saturday and Sunday with free admission.

Fete Des Fromages - My French may not be great, but I know enough to get that we're talking about a festival of CHEESES, people!!! OMG! It's technically being called a festival of cheeses, wine and music. Oh be still my heart and stomach. :) $30 for adult general admission, Saturday only at the US Mint.

Oh and the Saints are back in town, but I don't have tickets so I'll be in front of my TV trying to get the kids to just watch their YouTube and leave me alone. LOL! But reminder, the old schedules on your fridge are wrong since the game time got "flexed" to 3:25pm. WHO DAT!
