"The man is a war hero."  That was part of Pete Davidson's apology on this weekend's Saturday Night Live after getting some negative feedback for making jokes about the Dan Crenshaw's eye patch the week before.

It felt like a sincere apology to the former Navy SEAL and newly elected Republican representative from Texas’s 2nd Congressional District, but thanks in a huge way to Dan it was funny and really moving.

After a lot of funny jabs at Davidson, Crenshaw talked about honoring those who have served our country.

“When you say ‘never forget’ to a veteran, you are implying that, as an American, you are in it with them, not separated by some imaginary barrier between civilians and veterans, but connected together as grateful fellow Americans,” he added. " . . . And never forget those we lost on 9/11 — heroes like Pete’s father,” a firefighter who died in the World Trade Center. “So I’ll just say: Pete, Never forget.”

“Never forget,” Davidson replied, “and that is from both of us!”

And from me, Annette, today when we observe Veterans Day...to all those living and passed away...Thank you and Never Forget.
