Wet Nose Pet: Dude

October 10, 2018

We have a beautiful hound named Dude who is in desperate need of a home. He is not doing well at the shelter, being confined. Because of his breed, he needs space to get his energy out, or a family who has plenty of time to devote to him so he doesn’t feel abandoned again. Because of his age, estimated to be about 9, the stressors of shelter life are heightened.

Dude is a sweet, wonderful boy who has not understood what was happening to him since the day he got here. He was dumped on the side of the highway in July of last year and no one came forward to claim him. He was left with anxiety and nervous energy. Finally, Dude was adopted into what we thought was the perfect home, but recently, he was found stray, and his owner said he didn’t care to reclaim him, so back to a kennel he went. Now we are left with a wonderful dog, trying AGAIN to figure out what went wrong and why he’s back at a shelter.

If you, or someone you know, can help Dude. Take him in, or adopt him. Or if you know of a rescue for hounds who would be willing to take him, PLEASE let us know. He would do so well in a home with room to run, he enjoys the company of people so much and loves to play. He’s such a good dog, he just hasn’t found his perfect match yet and we hate to see him spend the rest of his life looking for happiness. Meet Dude from the Plaquemines Animal Welfare Society at paws4life.org.
